The Department of East Asian Studies in the University of Cambridge seeks to appoint a postdoctoral fellow in Chinese Buddhism. Candidates should have completed a Ph.D. in any relevant subject area relating to the Buddhist tradition in pre-modern China. The successful candidate is expected to have a proven record of original research and an advanced proficiency in classical and literary Chinese. He or she must be able to take up the appointment on 1st April 2009 and have a PhD well in hand when taking up the position. In addition to conducting research, the post-holder will be expected to contribute to undergraduate teaching in Chinese history, classical and literary Chinese texts and graduate seminars.
