Tamir Soliman is the founder of the Egyptian Centre for Human Rights. He holds a degrees in law (B.A. Cairo University), in Human and Rights and Democratization (M.A. University of Malta/NUI Galway), and in Global Studies (M.A. University of Leipzig/ Wroclaw). He is currently working on his PhD (University of Vienna) dealing with human rights education. Research topic (The role of Human Rights NGOs in promoting human rights education in formal and non-formal education. (Comparative study in democratic, transitional and authoritarian regimes).

Tamir has worked for Egyptian and International NGOs. He has practised as a human rights lawyer, and received intensive project management, planning and follow-up methodology, proposing and developing programs, and designing training activities. He has a sound knowledge of the field of international relations and cooperation and he has also received in-depth instruction on international human rights and humanitarian law, including the UN system and both European and African mechanisms for human rights protection.
